Andritz is supplying a high-efficiency power fluid boiler to Japan that is earmarked for a new biomass power plant slated for construction in Niigata Prefecture on Honshu Island.

The apparatus is a PowerFluid circulating fluidized bed boiler with a flue gas cleaning system going to the Toyo Engineering Corporation. Commercial operations are to begin in September 2024.

The boiler is part of a high-efficiency biomass power plant meant to supply green energy to the Japanese grid. The biomass plant is expected to generate about 50 MWel of power and will be fired with wood pellets and palm kernel shells.

Andritz is a leading global supplier of power boiler technologies and systems for generating steam and electricity from renewable and fossil fuels.
